I used my pick-up claw yesterday to retrieve a child’s sock that’d fallen amidst the washer and dryer. The day before that I used it to grab a faucet washer that’s fallen into the tub drain. (FREE TIP: Whenever you work on a faucet near a sink, always close the drain, or better yet, put a piece of wide tape by the drain until you are finished with you task.) The claw has a plunger handle at one end. Press it and four spring steel claws (more like talons, really) open at the far end. Maneuver the talons near the errant item, release the plunger and lift the item out of its hidey gap with a tenacious, raptor like grip. Why would I ever need one of these, you ask? When you can reply that question for yourself you’ll wish you’d already bought one. Available at all good hardware and autoparts stores.
