Keep your hand warm as toast

My older brother called yesterday from Minnesota to report that the temperature at his house was -41 degrees. I’m not a physicist, but I think that’s approaching the temperature when every living thing stops moving and freezes solid. My brother has to plug in his truck at night so that it will start in the dawn, and he routinely has to rake snow off his roof so it won’t collapse—two activities I’ve never had to do in Connecticut, thank goodness. whether I had to live in Minnesota, I’d get several pair of these cool (warm) Thinsulate-lined gloves and wear them from October until June. On the back of the gloves is a valve that you blow into, and your warm breath keeps your hands toasty while you’re outside making an igloo or an ice sculpture, and I’m inside, looking out the window.
