Kill ‘em with greenness
A friend of mine, who used to write about gardening for the newspaper, interviewed an old timer whose bountiful in-town vegetable garden was the envy of all the local green thumbs. Every summer, he’s set up a big picnic table just outside his gate filled with heaps of vegetables, free for the taking to anyone who happened by. Lucy, my friend, asked him about pest management—there wasn’t a bug in sight and his produce had nary a worm gap or beetle bite. “Here’s my secret,” he said, leading her to a small garden shed. Inside were hundred of empty aerosol cans of Raid. “Every night I go out and spray everything.” Yum.
