The compost bucket under our kitchen sink is a slimy embarrassment. One or more of three indicators tell us that it’s duration to empty it: It stinks to high hell; the ill-fitting lid won’t close; or a little cloud of fruit flies swarms out of the cabinet whenever we open the door.
But soon we are going to have a high-style stainless steel compost bin with dual charcoal filters. It holds a gallon of gunk and might just look good abundant that we’ll leave it on the counter instead of having to hide it. When I ordered that, I bought an additional set of charcoal filters.
